Client’s Tdub and urban escape plans

Had a client with a '19 Tdub ask me if I'd ever consider it for city getaways in some kind of emergency. He's stocking basic med gear and tools in a tank bag already. Would adding a fuel cell be smart or just weighing it down?

If he's serious about longer hauls, a small fuel cell makes sense. But yeah regarding that, he has to balance the weight so it doesn't kill the handling. TW200 is already strong I guess but too much up front can mess with it, as is with other bikes.

You're right, handling a heavy front end is something to avoid. That makes me think a rear rack solution's better than trying to add more to the tank area. Are there any specific rear-mounted fuel packs that work well with the Tdub's setup?

Absolutely, a compact 1 to 2-gallon fuel cell is a smart choice for emergencies. It effectively doubles your range without adding much extra weight. Plus, MSR or Rotopax bottles are lighter than standard fuel cells and are much easier to attach and detach when you don't need them

He chose a 1-gallon Rotopax on a Nomadic rear rack and so far it's working well for his city adventure setup. We tried it on a few short trips and the weight stayed balanced, even with medical gear and tools packed. He keeps the tank area clear, so the rear mount is easier to handle and access quickly. Did you use the standard or deluxe mount for your Rotopax? I'm helping him complete the rest of the setup this month, so any advice on long-term durability would be greatly appreciated.
