Great choice with the AliExpress set, but just keep in mind that the qualtiy can be a bit inconsistent. Make sure to check everything when it arrives and compare it to the original parts if you can. It could save you a lot of trouble later. Are you doing the rebuild yourself or are you getting a shop to do it?

How's it going so far? I'm often a bit wary about buying online from unverified sources. I had a friend who bought what he thought was a good deal online for some brake components, and they failed after only a few hundred miles! It got him to spend more on repair than if he'd just bought the OEM parts in the first place. Hopefully, your buddy's rebuild holds up well, and yours does too!

Yeah, my brother once decided to order some budget parts online for his bike rebuild. Initially, it looked like an awesome deal, but a few of the parts didn't fit properly and ended up wearing out much quicker than expected. While OEM parts might cost a bit more, they're typically a lot more reliable in the long run. I hope your rebuild goes well and that the parts work out for you!

This is probably the main reason why I'm trying to stay away from those super affordable parts, especially on sites like aliexpress or similar. They're either poor quality or sometimes get the wrong part. I'd like to get an update on this, and I honestly hope you'll have a good experience with it.

Did you end up using the pistons you bought from AliExpress? I mean while the price is tempting, I share the same sentiments as the rest here. Honestly, it'd be a shame to do all that work on a rebuild and then have problems because of a cheap part. Might be worth weighing the risk against saving about $100 on a critical component.

This guy has the right idea. I've ordered a ton of cheap, most of them being Chinese, parts and I can't really remember one that surprised me. Yeah, there were a few that were good enough when you factor in the price and that's about it. I do have to mention, I'm not talking about something critical so you can see where this is going. Even though I wish @FrostbyteXtreme all the best, I'm not too sure everything will be smooth and the engine will be purring like a kitten for too long. Hope I'm wrong though.

I’m with most of the folks here. Saving money is tempting, but internal engine parts are one place where tolerances really matter. @FrostbyteXtreme, did you ever get that piston installed and put some miles on it, or did you end up going another route?
