smart carb honest review

had my 01 TW for 15 years and ran a Mikuni VM 28 for about 14, tuned by Carb Parts Warehouse back when they were around. i tweaked the jets and needle too. it ran decent but could've been better. so i got a Smart Carb, reusing my throttle and cable. the 01 had a unique CV carb and the air box boot's smaller diameter didn't fit the 02+ models, so i swapped that out and installed the carb. i've only adjusted the idle and added my modified air box cover with drilled holes. the factory tune's impressive, no bog off idle and it pulls strong through the gears. i gave them my bike details and riding conditions. they say run it a few hours before tuning but i might not change much. weather is been bad so not much riding yet. my fuel line's kinked, but it's just temporary.

that sounds like a solid upgrade. smart carb looks like it's working well since you said the bike runs great. but yeah, something might come up or anything. just ride it all out and you might encounter issues along the way. but as of now looks totally good. enjoy!

Wow, that's indeed a solid upgrade like my bro @BarneyStinson mentioned here. I hope the weather has cleared out since this thread? Any update, man? DId you get to see the performance already?

The factory tune appears to be quite reliable, but after you've had some more time riding, you might find that you don't need to make many adjustments. Just be sure to get that fuel line sorted out when you can,it can really affect the flow if it's not addressed soon. I'm curious to hear how it feels after you've logged more miles

Beautiful, especially considering the unique carb and air box situation on the '01 TW. Its great that the factory tune is working well right out of the box, no bog and strong pull is a good sign. Once you get that kinked fuel line sorted and some more ride time in, youll have a better sense if any fine tuning is needed, but honestly, it seems like you're pretty close already.
